đ Container Terminal Update We continue to navigate peak demand in the terminal as Port of Auckland volumes continue to grow. Important to stay across a number of key updates recently shared around Christmas and New Year Operating hours and Kiwirail block of line here.
eGate is nowlive at Fergusson Main Gates for all carriers: eGate went live across all Fergusson main gates in October 2025 for all carriers. We strongly encourage all transport companies to commence using eGate now and work towards full adoption across all drivers. eGate will become compulsory from March 2026, so ensuring all Transport companies and drivers are familiar with and actively using eGate will help guarantee a smooth transition.
How eGate works: eGate allows drivers to use an app on their phones which tracks their arrival through pre-defined geo-fences, providing real-time visibility to the road office. Drivers will see either green or red on their device:
GREEN: All information is correct, the driver is on time for their slot, or the terminal can accommodate the truckâs arrival. Proceed to the gate.
RED: There is an issue. Drivers must park in the truck park, resolve any issues, or wait for their booked time slot.

Induction and Security Access Card requirements All drivers accessing Port of Auckland (POAL) must now hold a valid POAL induction. Drivers without a valid induction can no longer access POAL facilities.
The deadline to collect POAL Security Access Cards has been extended to 31 October. Please ensure cards are collected as soon as possible.
đ Fergusson Terminal R & D Due to low demand for VBS bookings, Fergusson Container Terminal R&D will have kiosk only operation from 1900 Saturday to 0700 Sunday.
Trucking companies will need to ensure that any trucks arriving during the kiosk only operation time have:
Containers expressed pinned for use of the pre-gate kiosks located in the Fergusson truck park.
If using e-Gate, the driver app is on and front facing for both geo fences when heading to the port.

Changes to VBS peak & off-peak hours Effective from 1 January the peak hours for VBS will be 0500 â 1859 hours, Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours will be offâ peak.
đ Multi-Cargo (MC) Operations Container/Bulk berths and yard is at 30% capacity and expected to increase to 60% by early next week.
PCC Car volume in the yard is currently at 30% capacity and expected to increase to 80% over the next week.
November was a good month with volumes tracking in the positive direction. Over the next couple of weeks, we are expecting a lighter but steady flow of vessels across Multi-Cargo wharfs with a higher demand related to tranship vehicles. Construction work is in full swing around a few areas of Multi-Cargo, so please follow instructions and keep safe.
