Today, we're advising customers that from Sunday 1 November Port of Auckland is leasing the space between Queens and Captain Cook wharves, the ‘breastworks’, to Auckland Council.
Our team is proud to support community access to the waterfront through this lease. The agreement is an initial 2 years, which makes the space available while we work through a more long-term public access agreement in support of the Long-Term Plan.
This change will slightly reduce yard capacity in this area, however, we do not expect the impact to be material on day-to-day customer or vessel operations around Captain Cook and Marsden wharves.
Looking further ahead, we are investigating our options to grow the port's vehicle handling capacity.
