Port and Harbour Safety Code

The New Zealand Port and Harbour Marine Safety Code is a voluntary national standard designed to ensure the safe management of marine activities in ports and harbours. The Code relies on a collaborative structure between Maritime New Zealand, Harbourmasters, and Port Operators, and provides a standard against which Ports of Auckland can measure itself, and be measured by others.

Ports of Auckland is fully committed to the intentions of the Code. Ports of Auckland aims to achieve this by:
  • Working with the Auckland Harbourmaster to safeguard the Waitematā and Manukau Harbours, their users and the environment.
  • Complying with all relevant legislation.
  • Ensuring that all Ports of Auckland assets are properly resourced, managed and maintained.
  • Ensuring that all Ports of Auckland staff are appropriately trained.
  • Engaging with all relevant stakeholders.
