Mandatory Pre-advice at Multi Cargo Wharves

Since the introduction of VGM in September 2016 some shippers have been using Pre-advice at the Multi Cargo Wharves.

Pre-advice makes the handling of export containers  more efficient, ensures the container is gated in with the correct information and export containers get to the right place on the right ship, by enabling stevedores to stack efficiently and load correctly.   For shipping lines this makes booking and planning more efficient, for transport operators it means drivers spend less time dealing with paperwork at the port and for shippers it provides confidence their container will be loaded to the correct vessel and arrive at the right destination.

We wish to advise that from 15 March 2018 export containers at Multi Cargo wharves will only be received with a Pre-advice.

The Multi Cargo Road Office can enter container information if the shippers do not have Pre-advice, however a Pre-advice Fee will apply. This service charge can be found in our tariff here http://www.poal.co.nz/ops-information/Pages/price-schedules.aspx

Stevedores at Multi Cargo wharves will require a paper copy of the carter’s note.

If you submit a weight with your Pre-advice and have the VGM confirmed on the port, the VGM weight will be updated by the stevedores and there will be no charge for the update.
