Crew Shore Leave in Auckland

Good afternoon  

Please see below updated process for crew shore leave for vessels calling at POAL

SHORE LEAVE IN AUCKLAND – Coastal vessels

  1. Shore leave permitted for coastal vessels coming in from another NZ Port.
  2. Ship staff will be permitted in POAL Security Vans, however, the crew must wear a mask while in the vans.
  3. All PPE and other guidelines from authorities to be followed by ship's staff going ashore

In case the situation changes the POAL will review the above requirements. 

SHORE LEAVE IN AUCKLAND – International vessels

Conditions required to be met

  1. All crew on board must be healthy and not show any symptoms of COVID-19.
  2. Free pratique must be granted to the vessel.
  3. If crew wish to go ashore, contact Customs who will deliver RAT's to the ship.
  4. All crew that wish to go ashore must carry out a self-administered RAT on board and the Master must record the results.
  5. Shore leave can be taken if the RAT test is negative.   A copy of the results (photo of test result and crew passport) is to be emailed to [email protected]
  6. If the RAT is positive, then the crew member must remain on the ship along with all the other crew on board who are then deemed 'household contacts'. All crew must then wear Covid-19 PPE (Mask) when interacting with stevedores and Pilots etc and no shore leave is permitted. Appropriate "Isolation" sign will be exhibited at the base of the gangway. 
  7. Ships' crew are permitted in POAL Security Vans, however, crew must wear a mask while in the vans.
  8. Copy of RAT test and passports must be shown to the security van driver.
  9. All PPE and other guidelines from authorities must be followed by ship's staff going ashore
