Connection and pride for Port of Auckland Pasifika Day

Connection and pride ran deep for this year's Port of Auckland staff Pasifika Day.

It is the second year the port has held Pasifika Day and it has quickly become a much-loved event on the calendar.

This year the celebration had a strong whānau vibe and connection to cultural roots.

Staff were treated to a beautiful traditional Samoan performance from Ruta Solomona and the Lau Tifa'imoana group.

And for the first time, the port's Tuvalu staff and their whānau put on a powerful performance that was incredibly moving. It was a proud moment for all our port staff as our Tuvalu colleagues shared their beautiful culture with us all.

"Everyone was well fed which was important," says Vanessa Wolfgramm, Pasifika Outcomes Manager. "Pasifika Day is about acknowledging and celebrating the rich and diverse Pacific cultures here at the port. It's also a great way to connect our Pasifika people from across the port to foster a sense of community and belonging at work."
