Consultation on Ports of Auckland's recently published port
development proposals end on Sunday 9 June, so if you haven't had
your say yet, you can do so
here.
Feedback received will influence Auckland Council in their
Unitary Planning process. Auckland's port is a national strategic
asset, facilitating over $12.5 billion in trade and 187,000 jobs.
With Auckland's predicted population growth, it's role will become
even more important, given that it is on the doorstep of our
country's largest market, so it is vitally important that its growth
is properly planned for.

New appointments
We are very
pleased to announce the appointment of Cedric Betham and Lynda
Tutai to the position of Transport Co-ordinator within the Gate
Operations team. They will be working with the current VBS
Coordinator, Janita Barton, to manage VBS (Vehicle Booking
System) and improve utilisation of automated gate function.
This team, the
Transport Co-ordinators and the VBS Coordinator, will be the key
contact point for VBS bookings and gate entry operations at the
container terminals
This new role
will focus on ensuring trucks are processed through to the gate
with minimal delay, and automated gate functions can be best
utilised. It forms part of our efforts to continuously improve
the gate entry process for road carriers.

Installation of new gangway at Shed 10 underway
Ports of Auckland
has begun installation of a new multi-million dollar gangway at
Shed 10 on Queens Wharf.
The gangway that
will service cruise ships calling at Shed 10, is a specialist
piece of equipment similar to an airport airbridge. It will
automatically move up and down as the ship moves with the tide
and will allow the rapid transfer of passengers between the ship
and Shed 10.
