Freight Hubs

To better serve our customers and make it as easy as possible for them to get their goods to market, we have developed a network of inland freight hubs. Our freight hub network enables us to increase our use of rail, improving sustainability and generating infrastructure savings at a national level.

Our network of freight hubs allows customers to pick up their imports and drop off their exports at their nearest hub and we do the rest, sustainably linking Kiwi importers and exporters to the rest of the world. Our freight hubs are located at Wiri in South Auckland and

We work with a number of partners to operate our freight hubs. CONLINXX, a subsidiary of Nexus Logistics, manages the South Auckland Freight Hub. Longburn Freight Hub is a joint venture between Ports of Auckland, Icepack and Napier Port

These hubs all operate as an open platform, available to all stakeholders in the supply chain and offering regional exporters a seamless, flexible service to overseas markets. Our target is to increase rail throughput from 13% currently to 30% over next 5-10 years or sooner. The network enables us to better balance the volumes of imports and exports so that we are not shipping out empty containers, but rather New Zealand exports.
