Recent changes in biosecurity requirements for the port mean that POAL have to provide an inspection area and undertake regular commercial cleaning to a specific biosecurity standard.

Based on the actual cost of the extra cleaning work we have to advise that there will be an increase in the cost of the MPI Internal inspection fee from $166.04 per container to:

$256.12 per 20',  $366.19 per 40' and $188.97 per pallet

We do appreciate the extra cost that this will add to your clearance processes if an internal inspection is required and encourage you to work with MPI to make off-wharf arrangements where possible to avoid extra charges.

At Ports of Auckland we continue to focus on delivering productivity and service level improvements and make every endeavour to reduce our costs. This increase is a necessary cost recovery related to the nature of the cargo and the importance of biosecurity protection of our border.
