Axis-Intermodal brand to be phased out

Ports of Auckland’s Axis Intermodal brand is being phased out, with our Container Terminals operation reintegrating with the Ports of Auckland brand as Container Terminals – Ports of Auckland.

This change is being brought about to avoid duplication in costs and to focus on building the Port’s future around a single brand. It is also in response to feedback that shows that most of our customers identify more strongly with the Ports of Auckland brand.

Any customer related information or services can now be accessed via the Ports of Auckland website, www.poal.co.nz.

Empty depot expansion and consolidation

Hydrographic Surveys

Ports of Auckland is expanding its Fergusson empty depot.

The SeaPACK Operations will move 20 metres to a newer shed with office facilities remaining at its current location

The shed formerly used by SeaPACK operations will be demolished to make space for the empty depot extension.

With this extension, we will begin consolidating our Bledisloe Empty Depot operations with the Fergusson operation.

Car imports reach record high for the year

Cars

The 2009 -10 financial year has seen a steady recovery in car imports at the Ports of Auckland to culminate at a record high for the year in June.

Car imports increased by 54.5% this quarter over the same time last year and showed an overall annual increase of 17%.

This is an encouraging trend.

Reminder: Introduction of business rules

Ports of Auckland is introducing two new business rules for the delivery and loading of full export containers to the Fergusson and Bledisloe container terminals.

Truck service statistics

Ports of Auckland is committed to providing a consistent and timely service to road carriers, enabling cargo to be removed from the port as soon as possible after discharge from a vessel.

Performance against this commitment is measured in several ways, including:

  • the proportion of truck visits entering via the self service kiosks (rather than by manual process in the Road Office)
  • the average time taken to turn a truck
  • the proportion of truck visits turned within 30 minutes
  • the average quantity of containers exchanged per truck visit
  • the average dwell time of import containers in the port.
