Ports of Auckland to sponsor Round the Bays 2010Next year’s Round the Bays fun run will be sponsored by Ports of Auckland. Round the Bays attracts more than 60,000 participants each year for an 8.4 kilometre fun run along the Auckland waterfront between Quay Street and St Heliers. It is the largest mass-participation sporting event in New Zealand. “We are very proud to have the opportunity to support and sponsor this iconic Auckland event for the next three years,” said Ports of Auckland Managing Director Jens Madsen. “Round the Bays is a natural fit for us,” said Mr Madsen. “The run, which showcases Auckland’s waterfront and active lifestyle, starts right on our doorstep.” Ports of Auckland has nominated the Waitemata Harbour Clean-up Trust as one of the charities that will benefit from the proceeds raised through event entry fees.
The Ports of Auckland Round the Bays 2010 will be held on Sunday 14 March.

Port project finalist in Engineering Awards
Ports of Auckland’s project to deepen the Rangitoto Channel and extend the Fergusson container terminal was recently named as a finalist in the 2009 New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards. The Fergusson terminal extension was the first large-scale reclamation in New Zealand to be constructed entirely of “mudcrete”, a pioneering technique which recycles dredgings into fill, delivering significant environmental benefits compared to more traditional methods. |
