Pikes Point development works completePorts of Auckland has completed the first stage of development and enhancement works at its Pikes Point site in Onehunga. A significant part of the 18-hectare site will now be further developed as a transit, storage and Customs-bonded processing facility for imported vehicles by Car Haulaways. It will also incorporate a new heliport facility, to be developed by Hangar One Limited. The Port's development works included clay capping the former landfill site, service installation, paving, road access and landscaping with more than 7,500 native plants. |

Still truckingTruck operations quickly returned to normal after a power failure at the Fergusson road office temporarily impacted the Port's ability to process trucks early this morning. General Manager Operations Grant Jorey said the incident was resolved within an hour, with the backlog cleared and the average truck turnaround time returning to under 20 minutes. "We'd like to thank the transport community for their cooperation and patience this morning." "We are now working to confirm the cause and put a contingency in place to ensure our service is not compromised in future," he said. |
