14 December 2011 Customer Advisory Container dwell time for Hazardous Cargo measured to the minute Recently Ports of Auckland made a change to the way free time for import containers is displayed on the POAL website and InterACT system. The current method of displaying this information has been to display the Last Free Day (LFD), which is three days after the vessel completes its discharge. POAL will now display the Last Free Time (LFT). The main driver for this change is that the free time for Hazardous containers, which need to be removed from the ports within 24 or 72 hours after vessel discharge, could only be notified by communicating directly with the Customer Services Team. As of Monday 5 December the actual LFT is now displayed, enabling customers to see the exact time Hazardous containers need to be uplifted from the port. For non-Hazardous containers the LFT will display 06.00hrs on the day after LFD as this is the time period allowed for non-Hazardous import containers. The current free time period remains the same.
