Industrial Action at Ports of Auckland – Information for Port Users

Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding the pending industrial action at Ports of Auckland. Please be assured that we are working to provide our customers with the best service we can under the circumstances.

Maritime Union of New Zealand – Local 13 (MUNZ) strike action will result in a closure of the Fergusson and Bledisloe container terminals, and associated road and rail services, over the following periods:

  • 10.30pm Friday 9 December to 10.30pm Saturday 10 December

  • 10.30pm Thursday 22nd December to 10.30pm Friday 23rd December
  • 10.30pm Saturday 24th December to 10.30pm Sunday 25th December

Ports of Auckland’s on-dock empty container depot, multi-cargo wharves (Jellicoe, Freyburg, Captain Cook, Marsden), cruise business, vehicle import trade, marine services, Onehunga seaport, Wiri Inland Port and Seafuels barge Awanuia are not affected by the stoppages, and will remain open for business.

POAL Fergusson Terminal R&D Hours –
Thursday 8th December – Normal operational hours until 22:30hrs
Friday 9th December – 07:00hrs to 22:30hrs
Saturday 10th December – Closed Due to strike action
Sunday 11th December – 07:00hrs – 15:00hrs
Monday 12th December– Normal operational hours
* Please ensure trucks are on the truck grids by 22:00hrs 8th Dec to ensure transactions are completed

POAL Bledisloe Terminal R&D Hours –
Thursday 8th December – Normal operational hours until 22:30hrs
Friday 9th December – 15:00hrs to 22:30hrs
Saturday 10th December – Closed Due to strike action
Sunday 11th December – 07:00hrs – 15:00hrs
Monday 12th December– Normal operational hours

Fergusson Empty Depot R&D and Road Office Hours –
Thursday 8th December – 07:00hrs to 23:00hrs
Friday 9th December – 07:00hrs to 23:00hrs
Saturday 10th December – Closed
Sunday 11th December – 07:00hrs to 15:00hrs
Monday 12th December – 07:00hrs to 23:00hrs

POAL Customer Service Hours –
Thursday 8th December – 07:00hrs to 19:00hrs
Friday 9th December – 07:00hrs to 19:00hrs
Saturday 10th December – Closed
Sunday 11th December – 07:00hrs to 15:00hrs
Monday 12th December – 07:00hrs to 19:00hrs

VBS Slot Releases
VBS slot releases for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will happen at the normal drop times.

Demurrage
Friday 9th – Tuesday 13th will be demurrage-free days. Other demurrage issues will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the Customer Service Team.

  • Bahia Negra V143N ETA of 09/12 will now omit on this voyage and call Port of Tauranga.

  • Euromax V126N ETA 10/12 will now omit on this voyage and call Port of Tauranga.
  • JPO Scorpios V256S ETA of 11/12 will now omit on this voyage and call Port of Tauranga.
  • Annabelle Schulte V840N ETA of 12/12 will now omit on this voyage and call Port of Tauranga.
