29 November 2011 Customer Advisory Industrial Action at Ports of Auckland – Shuttle Operations Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding the pending industrial action at Ports of Auckland. Please be assured that we are working to provide our customers with the best service we can under the circumstances. Maritime Union of New Zealand – Local 13 (MUNZ) strike action, and associated lockouts by Ports of Auckland, will result in a closure of the Fergusson and Bledisloe container terminals, and associated road and rail services, over the following periods:
Ports of Auckland’s on-dock empty container depot, multi-cargo wharves (Jellicoe, Freyburg, Captain Cook, Marsden), cruise business, vehicle import trade, marine services, Onehunga seaport, Wiri Inland Port and Seafuels barge Awanuia are not affected by the stoppages, and will remain open for business. During the above time frames the POAL shuttle operation will not be operating. Shuttle will cease operations during the stoppage from 10.30pm Thursday 1 Dec to 7.00am Tuesday 6 December. Shuttle will complete as much work as possible before the 1st December stoppage. In order to help the Shuttle team best plan for this please ensure all containers to be moved this week are booked before close of business today, 29 November 2011. Shuttle will resume operations from the morning of Tuesday 6th December and work will be prioirtised based on the ETA of the connecting vessels. Please expect some delays throughout this time, the Shuttle team will be working hard to minimise disruptions.
