Industrial Action at Ports of Auckland – Information for Port Users

Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding the pending industrial action at Ports of Auckland. Please be assured that we are working to provide our customers with the best service we can under the circumstances.

Maritime Union of New Zealand – Local 13 (MUNZ) strike action, and associated lockouts by Ports of Auckland, will result in a closure of the Fergusson and Bledisloe container terminals, and associated road and rail services, over the following periods:

  • 10.30 pm Thursday 1 December to 10.30 pm Monday 5 December

  • 10.30 pm Thursday 8 December to 10.30 pm Monday 12 December

Ports of Auckland’s on-dock empty container depot, multi-cargo wharves (Jellicoe, Freyburg, Captain Cook, Marsden), cruise business, vehicle import trade, marine services, Onehunga seaport, Wiri Inland Port and Seafuels barge Awanuia are not affected by the stoppages, and will remain open for business.

Please see below information about POAL services during the 1-5 December stoppage. Operational details relating to the 8-12 December stoppage will be provided at a later date.

POAL Container Terminals R&D Hours –
Thursday 1st December – Normal operational hours until 22:30hrs
Friday 2nd December - Monday 5th December 23:00hrs– Closed
Monday 5th December 23.00hrs – Normal operational hours
* Please ensure trucks are on the truck grids by 22:00hrs 1st Dec to ensure transactions are completed

Fergusson Empty Depot R&D and Road Office Hours –
Thursday 1st December – 07:00hrs to 23:00hrs
Friday 2nd December – 07:00hrs to 23:00hrs
Saturday 3rd December – 07:00hrs – 15:00hrs
Sunday 4th December – Closed
Monday 5th December – 07:00hrs to 23:00hrs

POAL Customer Service Hours –
Thursday 1st December – 07:00hrs to 19:00hrs
Friday 2nd December – 07:00hrs to 19:00hrs
Saturday 3rd December – 07:00hrs – 15:00hrs
Sunday 4th December – Closed
Monday 6th December – 07:00hrs to 19:00hrs

VBS Slot Releases
Slots for Tuesday 6th December will be released:

  • Fergusson – Monday 5 December @ 09:00hrs

  • Bledisloe – Monday 5 December @ 09:15hrs

Slots for Wednesday 7th December will be released:

  • Fergusson – Monday 5 December @ 11:00hrs

  • Bledisloe – Monday 5 December @ 11:15hrs

Demurrage
Friday 2nd – Tuesday 7th will be demurrage-free days. Other demurrage issues will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the Customer Service Team.

Rail
The rail exchange will be closed between 10.30 pm Thursday 1 December to 10.30 pm Monday 5 December. Rail will not be available for the multi-cargo wharves.
