Dear Customer
Ports of Auckland have recently had a number of Dangerous Goods containers that have been left on the Port in breach of our dangerous goods licence. Should an incident occur involving such a unit our ability to handle dangerous goods in the future may be jeopardised. With this in mind we will be implementing a notification and fine system, effective from 31 August 2011. 1) If the container will exceed its allowable dwell time within the next 24 hours / or over a weekend then an automated email will be sent requesting immediate arrangements to remove this cargo 2) If the container has exceeded its allowable dwell time an automated email will be sent requesting immediate arrangements to remove this cargo 3) If a Departing Tranship will exceed its allowable dwell time in the next 12 hours an automated email will be sent advising of the status.
Hazardous containers that remain at the port in breach of our dangerous goods licence will incur a fine of $150.00 per day. Failure to remove these units will result in the Port arranging for them to be removed to the Wiri Inland Port with all costs to your account. A Keep Separate (K) stop will be placed on this container until hazardous storage & associated costs acceptance is received.
Departing tranship hazardous containers that dwell at the port for longer than our licensed periods will incur a fine of $75.00 per TEU/day, your stevedores may be directed to move these units at your cost to our approved DG transhipment storage area. For classes not covered by our licence we may request they are collected or arrange to move them to Wiri inland port with all costs to your account. A Keep Separate (K) stop will be placed on this container until Hazardous storage & associated costs acceptance is received.
