CUSTOMER ADVISORY
An important update from Ports of Auckland
18 December 2009

Safety improvements at Solent Street entry

We are pleased to update you on some recent initiatives undertaken at Ports of Auckland to improve the safety and efficiency of our main entrance at Solent Street.

Changes include:
- realigning lanes and road markings;
- adding barriers to separate incoming and outgoing traffic to the Port and terminal;
- removing trees to provide better sightlines; and
- installing directional and speed limit signage.

These changes complement other modifications made earlier in 2009, including adding express lanes for trucks and expanding the truck transit area.

We will continue to develop longer-term solutions to ensure that the Solent Street entrance and roadway is as safe as possible. This work is being progressed in collaboration with expert traffic engineers from BECA Infrastructure, and will include further engagement with the wider transport industry, truck drivers and the community.

Thank you in advance for sharing this information within your organisation, especially with those who use this area regularly. Please link here to download our safety information leaflet.
