CUSTOMER ADVISORY An important update from Ports of Auckland |
4 December 2009 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Operations at Bledisloe wharfPorts of Auckland met with the National Road Carriers Inc (NRC) yesterday afternoon to discuss the trucking sector's concerns about the hours of operation for the road office and Receival & Delivery of containers at Bledisloe wharf. As a result of the discussions, Ports of Auckland will take the following steps to provide relief and capacity during this pre-Christmas rush. 1. Extend the standard operating hours for Receival and Delivery of containers at Bledisloe wharf*
*Operating hours may be further extended in accordance with adhoc changes to shipping schedules; utilisation of operating hours will be closely monitored and operating hours will be reviewed following the peak import season; ideal utilisation is a minimum of 80 containers per straddle carrier per 8 hour shift. 2. Extend the system tolerance for slot adherence (automated gate entry via self service kiosks) at Bledisloe wharf from the current 15 minutes (either side of a standard 1 hour slot)** **Carriers need to be mindful of the risk of delays caused by trucks arriving significantly out of their scheduled slot; adherence to slots will be monitored and system tolerances will be reviewed following the peak import season or earlier if requested by National Road Carriers. We are working hard to get through this peak and will be going the extra mile to ensure our customers’ needs are met. For more information, please contact:
