Ports of Auckland employee named International Young Achiever

Ports of Auckland Operations Co-ordinator Jesse-Lee Thomson-Cowley has been named “International Young Achiever” by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) at a ceremony in the UK this week.

The award, presented by HRH Princess Anne, recognises outstanding contribution and achievement by those aged under 35 years who work within the transport and logistics sector.

Ms Thomson-Cowley joined Ports of Auckland in 2009 as a part of the Graduate Leadership Development Programme. In January 2011, she was appointed as Operations Co-ordinator in the Terminal Stevedoring team where she’s learnt all parts of stevedoring including driving straddles, the 12 metre high machines used to move containers around the port.

“I’ve worked in nearly every part of the Port, learnt the guts of how the industry functions and met some fantastic people along the way,” she said.

Jesse-Lee graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Operations & Supply Chain Management and Employment Relations.
