Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB)

MPI have today announced measures that will be applied from 23 December 2017, as a result of the heightened risk of Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB).

Breakbulk Machinery and Vehicles that do not comply will not be discharged.

Containers arriving from Italy can be discharged but will all require fumigation on-wharf.

MPI notices can be found below:

BMSB Notification Letter

Clarification of the post treatment time requirement for all vehicles and machinery from Italy.

We will place containers into areas for the fumigation companies to undertake the necessary treatment in an orderly way and as fast as operationally possible.

Depending on the volume, there may be delays and as the border security requirements are cargo related, we will not extend the demurrage free time beyond the normal time plus the extra free days that apply for Public Holidays.

Thank you for your co-operation as we all work to ensure the border security measures are met.
