Berth deepening at the Fergusson container terminal
Ports of Auckland has resource consent to deepen one of the ship berths at its Fergusson container terminal.
This deepening work is needed to enable the Port to accommodate the next generation of bigger container ships that are expected to call here in the near future.
The Port has recently completed a project to deepen the commercial shipping lane in the Rangitoto Channel to help accommodate these bigger ships. This work was part of the Fergusson container terminal extension project.
